Here at Project Lever, we aim to make the process of finding an advisor and finding resources for your research projects as simple as possible. So with this guide, using our interface should be as smooth as Frank Underwood’s Southern drawl in House of Cards.
Step 1: Create an Account!
This step is fast, easy, FREE, and will make the rest of the process work really well for your individual preferences.
Step 2: Edit Your Research Profile
This is also a very crucial step. Simply enter your academic interests (as narrow or broad as they may be) into “My Research Interests.” Anything will do here! Including cover letters, abstracts, or even random thoughts.
Step 3: Match Away!
After you click match and your matches load (bear with us this may take a few seconds!) look through your matches to determine which people and resources you think will work well for you. They are ranked according to their own percentage of relevancy to your interests.
Step 4: Save
Once you’ve found the advisors, courses, funding opportunities, etc. that please you, save them to your profile.
So it looks like the process is as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4. You’re ready to go!
But wait… What if you’re not ready to enter your specific research interests yet? What if you don’t know what you want to study just yet?
Don’t fret, this is where our browse function comes into play. In the top right corner of your screen, click browse. You will see a visualization of many topics in bubbles. If you hover and click on one of these topics, you will see some of the resources available for this subject. The larger the bubble, the more this topic has been explored in the past.
